Is there a difference between a handheld laser welding machine and a traditional laser?

With economic development and the continuous improvement of welding technology, there are many choices of welding methods for people to choose from. Unlike traditional welding equipment, the modern manufacturing choice is more and more consumers of laser welding machines. So is laser welding really so good? In order to help friends better understand the characteristics of this product, the editor will introduce the difference between laser welding and traditional welding in detail. Can laser welding replace traditional welding? Are you interested? friends, let's get to know each other, shall we?

01

Low-temperature welding in traditional welding is a welding method that heats the solder with a flame spray gun and distributes it in the gap of the metal to be welded, thereby becoming an integrated welding method. It is usually necessary to embed and preheat the welded restoration. This method is cumbersome to operate and has disadvantages such as easy deformation, fracture of solder joints, and easy corrosion. Currently, it is rarely used.

Replace the previously fixed light path with a hand-held welding gun. The hand-held fiber laser welding machine is mainly used for laser welding of long-distance and large workpieces. The heat-affected area is small during welding, which will not cause work deformation, blackening, and traces on the back. The welding depth is large, the welding is firm, and the melting is sufficient. There is no concave phenomenon on the convergence of the convex part of the molten material in the molten pool and the matrix!

The handheld laser welding machine adopts the latest generation of fiber laser and is equipped with a self-developed welding head, which fills the gap of hand-held welding in the laser equipment industry. It has the advantages of simple operation, beautiful welding seam, fast welding speed, and no consumables. Welding of stainless steel plates, iron plates, galvanized plates and other metal materials can perfectly replace traditional argon arc welding, electric welding, and other processes. Hand-held laser welding machines can be widely used in complex and irregular welding processes in cabinet kitchen and bathroom, stair elevator, shelf, oven, stainless steel door and window guardrail, distribution box, stainless steel home, and other industries.

How is hand-held welding different from traditional welding?

The characteristics of laser welding are that the deformation of the welded workpiece is extremely small, there is almost no connection gap, and the welding depth/width ratio is high. When welding high-power devices, the aspect ratio can reach 5:1, and the highest can reach 10:1.

The welding seam has high strength, fast welding speed, narrow welding seam, and generally good surface condition, eliminating the need for post-weld cleaning and other work, and the appearance is more beautiful than traditional welding.

Laser welding can weld inaccessible parts, and non-contact remote welding has great flexibility, but laser welding can only be used for thin plates, and the penetration depth of the laser welding process is not enough to weld the chassis and frame. Spot welding can be done at this point, but the welding joint of spot welding needs to stack two sheets together, and a 15mm stack will appear, which not only affects the appearance but also increases the weight of the car. Laser welding is definitely the most advanced body welding technology at present, but it is impossible for the entire vehicle to use laser welding.

Can laser welding replace traditional welding?

Answer: yes. The advantages of laser welding are far more than the following three characteristics.

The welding speed is fast, which can meet the requirements of mass production and continuous production. 2-10 times faster than traditional welding, one machine can save at least 2 welders a year.

No technical requirements are required, it can be operated by ordinary workers, the operation is simple and easy to understand, and beautiful products can be welded without a master.

Welded workpieces are flat, smooth, and beautiful, with no need for grinding, polishing, or simple handling, simplifying polishing and grinding staff, saving time and cost.
